School year programming works on aligning with the academic school day by providing participants with
homework help, tutoring and supplemental skill building. Supplemental skill building focuses on reading,
mathematics and core competencies. We utilize project based learning including research, project
development, report writing and displays. Art and crafts, field trips and other enrichment activities are also a
core part of the school year programming model.
Youth 1st will provide students with daily opportunities to improve their physical health. This will be achieved
through the incorporation of outdoor physical exercise including calithetics, relays, basketball, volleyball,
kickball, tennis and various cooperative play games. In addition, we work with other community groups and
city agencies to provide additional team sports and competitive opportunities for interested participants.
Dance and movement classes will also be offered.
