Fort Point was built by the Army Corps of Engineers in the late 1800s to prevent hostile ships from entering the bay. Visit and see the video of the construction of the Golden Gate Bridge. Another video shows the history of Fort Point from the late 1700s through WWII. Saturday evening candlelight tours offered from November through February are available by appointment only and should be booked about a month ahead. You'll find sand dabs, rock crabs, and perch. Learn how to go crabbing along the pier by attending the Saturday morning classes from March through October.
