Description

This unique gallery and workshop in the Mission District is the heart of the mural movement in the community. They have an educational gallery, they conduct tours, and they also have educational programs for all ages.

The public mural tours offer a fantastic way to see all the beautiful murals in the Mission.

Mural walks in the Mission and 24th Street corridors start at the gallery on Saturdays and Sundays at 1:30pm with a brief historical slideshow. Another walk starts at Cafe Venice near the 24th Street BART station at 11am on Saturdays. Highlights of the Precita Park murals are on Sundays at 11am. Private walks can also be arranged by calling the gallery.

Classes:
Precita Eyes community art classes enable children and youth to develop their individuality and confidence through creative activities, and to experience unifying, positive social interaction through collaboration. Learning about and appreciating murals are a way of life in the Mission District. Their great little art workshop at 348 Precita Avenue offers classes for kids of all ages. All drop-in classes are $15 unless othewise noted. Contact the workshop at (415) 285-2287.

- Urban Youth Arts (Street art)
- Spanish through Eco-art

Camps:
Four weeks of mural workshops called “Eco Mural Camps” will be dedicated to one of the four elements. Students will  learn the art of monumental painting and about the Precita Eyes Collaborative Community.

2012 Week-long Summer Sessions:
Dates: June 4–June 22, July 9–July 13
Ages: 5 to 10 and 11 to 19
Days/Times: Mondays through Fridays, 1pm–5:30pm (half day) or 8:30am–3:30pm (full day) 
Cost: $235 per week (half day); $532 per week (full day)
Extended care: available at $20 per hour or $75 per week

2012 Week-long Monster Mural and Sculpture Camp Session:
Dates: June 11–June 15
Ages: 5 to 10
Days/Times: Monday to Friday, 1pm–5:30pm
Cost: $235 per week

2012 Week-long Summer Craft and Mural Camp:
Dates: July 9–July 13
Location: San Francisco Friends School, 250 Valencia Street
Ages: grades 2–4
Days/Times: Monday to Friday, 8:30am–3:30pm
Cost: $485 per week

Celebrations:
The workshop on Precita Avenue, an extension of the Mural Arts Center on 24th Street, is a unique and fun place to have a children's party. Kids can get creative and messy and you won't have to worry about cleaning up! Precita Park is just across the street and is a great place to run around. The gallery on 24th Street is also available for private rentals.
