Description
Habitot Children's Museum is a great East Bay resource for young kids. They feature a drop-in art studio, dramatic play stage, "Architects at Play," water play area, enclosed climbing structure, play grocery store and diner as well as a great wind tunnel. They also have a specific play area for non-walkers and barely-walkers, keeping them safely in their own area.
Habitot hosts "Parents' Night Out" every fourth Friday of the month for kids ages 2 to 7 from 5:30pm–9:30pm. Admission is $35 per child with a $10 discount for siblings. Space is limited; call to reserve.
Pizza is served during Pizza Fridays from 11am–12:30pm. Slices of cheese pizza are only $1.
Classes:
Habitot offers a lot of great classes and special programs including art, ceramics and clay, dramatic play, science, music, dance and movement, cooking, carpentry, playgroups, infant massage, and post-natal yoga.
While there are classes for kids up to age 7, most are designed for toddlers and preschoolers, even a few for infants. Parenting and safety classes are also offered to parents and caregivers.
Habitot welcomes children with many kinds of special needs, including those with visual impairment, hearing impairment, Down's Syndrome, and others.
Camps:
Habitot offers half-day camps in the summer and during holiday breaks. Campers dabble in art, science, cooking, music, and dramatic play.

Cost: $30 per day, $195 for all 7 days
Celebrations:
Habitot has three types of birthday party offerings, from an intimate party in the birthday room, to having the museum all to yourselves. Parties run from 1.5 to 2.5 hours plus all-day access to the museum for all guests. Prices start at $20 per child up to $475 for renting the entire museum. They offer food and beverage packages, invitations, and party favors at additional fees. Habitot is also available for rental after hours. See the website and start planning your party.

Getting There
From San Francisco, cross the Bay Bridge and take 80 East. Exit at University Avenue. Head east and turn right at Shattuck Avenue, and another right at Kittredge Street. The TransActions/Hinks parking garage is located directly across from the Habitot entrance on Kittredge Street. Additional parking is located one block north of the museum in the Allston Way garage. Metered parking is available along the streets and in the Oxford Street parking lot, one block east of the museum.
