When your child is struggling, it's often you who must take the initiative to find the help and support that you both need. There are many resources available to support students and parents. Be sure to check with your child's school for educational aid, enrichment, and assistance.

• San Francisco Beacon Initiative (SFBI), a public-private partnership that promotes youth and family centers in our public schools. (SFBI is a project of the San Francisco School Alliance, formerly the Every Child Can Learn Foundation.) There are eight centers with a variety of events and activities.
• 826 Valencia offers free afterschool tutoring and support.
• Testmasters SAT Prep
• San Francisco Public Library offers free online homework support.
• Math and Reading Help is a directory of hundreds of original articles, tips, and resources centered on the topic of children's learning.
• Esumz is an interactive site for math tutoring and is free.

Real Options for City Kids (ROCK)
ROCK combines school-based and afterschool learning enrichment programs with sports and fitness activities. They serve children mostly from Visitacion Valley, a low-income, under-served community. All programs are created to provide the appropriate supports and opportunities critical to the long-term development of children and youth.
