You have the San Francisco Bicycle Coalition to thank for the growing number of bike lanes and paths throughout the City. This dynamic organization works with City officials and agencies to make bike riding a significant part of the overall transportation system. The group helped to secure Healthy Saturdays and Car-Free Sundays in Golden Gate Park, and launch the San Francisco's new Safe Routes to School Program. Through day-to-day advocacy, education, and working partnerships with government and community agencies, the 12,000 member San Francisco Bicycle Coalition is dedicated to creating safer streets and more livable communities for all San Franciscans.
The San Francisco Bicycle Coalition works to make our streets safe and comfortable for cyclists age 8 to 80 with the Connecting the City Campaign as well as leading 2nd grade pedestrian and 4th bicycle safety classes as part of the SF Safe Routes to School program, working towards more safe, efficient, and green ways to move around our City. The SF Bicycle Coalition is the largest city-based bicycle advocacy group in the nation and one of the largest membership-based groups in San Francisco.
