Description
Destination Art is a neighborhood arts and craft studio in North Beach for children as well as adults. The space is used by working artists and crafters and is an inspiring place to do all kinds of art projects.
Classes:
Children can enroll in a toddler art group, Saturday morning workshops, or afterschool art classes for painting, ceramics, paper mache, drawing, sewing, knitting, carpentry, collage sculpture, and more. The school offers cooking classes for kids, too.
Destination Art also offers a Preschool Arts Program for kids ages 2 to 5. The drop-off program teaches art, drama, and music. Sign up fast as there are only 10 spots available to families who register in advance on a monthly basis. The fee for this program starts at $195 per month.
On the first and third Friday of each month, Destination Art hosts Movie Nights. Kids ages 3 and up partake in arts and crafts and a movie screening. Popcorn and juice are served during “intermission.” Drop off your kids at 6:30pm, paint the town red, and pick them up at 9pm. You'll get all this for $15 per child.
Camps:
Destination Art has a wide array of themes for their camps: Robin Hood, The Circus, Star Wars, Outer Space, A Trip Around the World, and the Deep Sea.
The theme for the summer of 2010 is Reuse and Recycle. Each week will focus on different materials such as Wood, Textiles, Metal, Paper, Organic, Plastics, Ceramics, Electronics, and Attire.

"The director is fantastic and the kids make all kinds of art, from collages and paper mache to paintings and frames. My daughter took a camp before school started and they focused on beach art. She made some great pieces with sand and shells and a paper mache octopus."
— Joan, mother of a 3rd grader
