The San Francisco Conservatory of Music is a world-class music school that recently moved into a state-of-the-art facility in the Civic Center. It's now close to the other classic arts venues.
Student recitals and teacher performances are often open to the public for free or a nominal cost. They have three venues for concerts large and small. Check the calendar on their website for detailed information on musical events.
The preparatory division has top-notch programs for kids ages 4 to 9 years old. They offer Dalcroze-Eurhythmics and an introductory group piano class called First Steps at the Keyboard to prepare kids for private lessons.
Private lessons are available for piano, organ, harpsichord, harp, guitar, and voice. Students are placed by audition to determine their experience level.
Summer Music West is the premier music camp in the Bay Area. Kids spend two weeks to a month with talented teachers and peers who are all focused on top quality musical development. Auditions are required to participate in this program.
