Description
Get up close with nature at Año Nuevo State Natural Reserve as you observe elephant seals during their winter breeding season. The park is open year-round for viewing elephant seals but the best time of year is between mid-December through the end of March, when females give birth to their young on the dunes. Access to the reserve during the breeding season is by guided walks only. In the spring and summer months, you can observe the elephant seals by obtaining a visitor permit.
Stop by the Visitor Center and browse through natural history exhibits and a bookstore. There is no food or drinks sold at the reserve.
